Patents and licenses

In order to make great products, we have partnered with industry leaders and experts to implement state-of-the-art methods and algorithms into our products.

From Oslo University Hospital we license the rights to use the following patents:

Automated normalization of cerebral blood volume maps

Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/EP2362350B1/en

This patent includes the use of automated segmentation of white and grey matter in dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI images, and the subsequent normalization of perfusion (CBV) maps. This invention allows the perfusion processing in nordicMEDiVA to be completely automated and at the same time yield semi-quantitative CBV values.

Vessel segmentation in DCE MR imaging

Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US8428327B2/en

This patent focuses on automatic vessel segmentation in dynamic contrast-enhanced MRI images and is used for the automatic removal of vessels from the perfusion maps. Voxels in the perfusion maps that are predominantly vessels will exhibit a large CBV value and may influence the accuracy of perfusion measurements. The automated vessel removal algorithm can be used to increase the accuracy.

Estimating and correcting for contrast agent extravasation in tissue perfusion imaging

Link: https://patents.google.com/patent/US8718747

The potential limitation of the standard Weisskoff method for contrast agent leakage correction is that th model assumes that mean transit time (MTT) and bolus arrival time are the same in tumor and non-pathalogic tissue (Bjornerud et. al, 2011).

This method that we license from Oslo University Hospital estimates the leakage transfer constant directly from the residue function and is insensitive to MTT.
